"The corn moons and harvest moons are behind you now. They fell behind the hills of the past just as the leaves fell from the trees. Cold awaits around every corner..."

from BA 43-100

Based on John Mosley’s Phases of the Moon, Griffith Observatory

The nightfall catches you without batteries in your headlamp or a candle to hold high. You emerge from the pub disoriented by the dark — which comes so early on these frost-covered days — and so you follow closely behind your better-prepared, well-lit friend. Suddenly you realize there’s a strong bitter breeze ruffling through your hair, and in your mind’s eye you see your helmet back where you left it under the bar. Such is the dizzying effect of the changing season. Go back and get your helmet, then, and summon your lunar rhythm.

The corn moons and harvest moons are behind you now. They fell behind the hills of the past just as the leaves fell from the trees. The cold awaits around every corner, the sharp clear cold in which hidden things become visible because there are no warm places for them to hide.

It is time to face that which you are meant to do.
